Hello King families!  As we begin the new school year, I would like to take a moment and introduce myself.

My name is Amber Karkau and I am very excited to begin a new school year within the King community!  I grew up in the small town of Perry, Michigan.  I attended Lansing Community College and Baker College of Owosso.  I earned my Master’s Degree in Education from Graceland University.  

I previously taught fifth grade for the San Antonio Independent School District.  This is my fourth year teaching fourth grade at King and my eleventh year teaching.  My husband, Patrick, works at the University of Michigan in the skilled trades department.  We have a son, August, who is entering second grade this year.  We returned to Michigan so our son could grow up knowing his relatives and be a part of their lives.  

Teaching is an absolute passion of mine!  I am so excited to work with you and your child!  It’s going to be a year full of fun, learning, and lots of adventures and I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us!
