Marci Tuzinsky院长

Dean Marci has served Community High School in various capacities over the years. In her 24 years as a professional educator in the Ann Arbor Public Schools, she has had unique opportunities to utilize both her passions for teaching and for educational leadership. Marci began her career at Community High in 1996. In the spring of 2003, she became Lead Teacher at Community to support the administrative needs of the school, while continuing to teach part-time in the classroom. She also spent two years at Pioneer High School teaching math part-time from the fall of 2006 through the spring of  2008.

Dean Marci received her Bachelors of Science with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Computer Science from Western Michigan University. She holds a secondary teaching certificate with both math and computer science endorsements. In December of 2000, she completed her Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University with an administrator certificate. During the summer of 2014, Marci traveled with 20 other AAPS educators on a Toyota-sponsored exchange to Singapore to learn more about best practices in STEAM education.

Marci is a wife and mother of three who enjoys sailing, 滑雪, 徒步旅行, 烹饪, 玩曲棍球, and spending time at her family cott年龄 in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Assistant Dean Rebecca Westrate

Rebecca joined the Community High family in 2017, with 18+ years of experience in education. 作为老师, 课程的作家, 标题1协调员, and building principal since 2002, she brings a variety of experiences to the administrative team. In 2007, Rebecca visited Community to learn more about Forum. That experience helped frame her beliefs about the relationship between students and schools, and prompted her to patiently wait ten years for her chance to join the CHS team.  

In 2012, Rebecca was named GM School Superhero for her work at Hamtramck High School. 最近, she and Dean Marci were named 2019 Michigan Interscholastic Press Association (MIPA) Administrators of the Year. She believes that authentic relationships, coupled with systematic intervention, is the foundation needed to make equity a priority in our communities. Her professional passions include collaborating with teachers to enhance the amazing work they do every day.

She graduated with a B.A. in Langu年龄 and Literature from Grand Valley State University and completed an M.A. in Educational 政府 from University of Detroit Mercy. Rebecca has also taught and studied systems of education in South Africa and Italy.

Rebecca spends her time outside of school with her wonderful daughter “Fig,” and working with her partner in the yard. She has a goal of learning to sail but needs to learn to swim first!
